Jewish History in a Flash: Your Link in the Chain

Curious about the political, social, economic, cultural, and religious aspects of each period of Jewish history? Wondering what it would have been like for you to live and thrive in a community of the past? Interested in how the past impacts the future of the world Jewish community, and where you fit in? This course is for you! This course will take you on a whirlwind tour of the vast sweep of Jewish history, covering three millennia in ten sessions. In each session, you’ll uncover the secrets of a specific period in Jewish history, from the distant biblical past right down to the present. Jewish history is your history—and this is your chance to find yourself among the stories and struggles of our ancestors. 

Bringing Jewish Wisdom into the Age of Twitter: Jewish Views on Today’s Ethical Debates

Bring your best debating skills to this lively course, which features some of the most cutting-edge halachic conversations going on in the Jewish world today. Through an exploration of current articles, podcasts and social media (JTwitter, anyone?), you’ll have a front-row seat to the real-life issues and challenges currently being debated in the public square. Issues may include reproductive freedom, sexuality and gender, gun control, climate change and environmentalism and more! You’ll have the opportunity to voice your opinions and ideas, and consider how halachic debates influence your Jewish life.

Scholarship Awards

Students receive scholarships to attend a Jewish program of learning, e.g., other online courses of Jewish study, a Jewish summer camp program, or college Judaic classes, as follows: Half the cost of the program, up to these amounts – 

$2,000

Year 1: One class per semester

Year 1: Two classes per semester

Year 2: One class per semester

Eligibility:

Now accepting 10th – 12th graders.

The program cost is $500 and will be due upon acceptance into the program.
